CEO
Chun Fu Chen obtained his Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from the National Taiwan University. He completed his MS degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Tennessee and Doctorate degree at Vanderbilt University. He joined The University of Akron in 1968 where he took early retirement in 1994.
While at UA he established digital electronic program. He also has been an active entrepreneur. During his tenure at UA, Chen founded Quatech ,Inc., a company specializing in designing data acquisition and data communication for personal computers. The company experienced a minimum of 50% growth each year with more than 3000 customers through out,e the nation, many of whom are Fortune 500 such as AT&T, IBM, Sohio, Lockheed Aircraft as well as highly respected research facilities, Los Almos National Laboratory and Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory. Due to Dr. Chen’s health, the company was sold to a venture capital firm in 2000.
Dr. Chen then formed a company Savile Lane with his daughter specializing in affordable custom made clothing. He developed algorithm and equations , employing computer programming to convert body measurement directly to the finished product, by passing trial-on procedure, saving labor and time , speeding up the production schedule. Now the business is focused on VIRTUAL TAILORING.
Dr. Chen and his wife, May Juan Chen, are active philanthropists in Akron and have funded Best Paper Award at Vanderbilt University , Best Design Award at University of Akron and Lois Hill Award at University of Akron College of Engineering. Now he has chosen his second career in social entrepreneurship to support successful aging in place for immigrant and refugee elders.
Program Manager
Alice Zhang is a dynamic program manager at the Jin Huo Community Adult Daycare Center, boasting a strong educational background with a major in business management. With over a decade of experience in the hospitality industry, Alice's career has been marked by a deep connection with seniors and a passion for enhancing their quality of life.
Alice's journey in the hospitality sector has equipped her with a wealth of skills in customer service, operations management, and team leadership. Her proficiency in these areas seamlessly translates into her role at JHC, where she oversees and coordinates programs that cater to the unique needs of the center's senior participants.
Alice finds great fulfillment in her role at JHC Adult Daycare Center for several reasons. Firstly, the opportunity to leverage her business management skills to innovate and improve services for senior individuals aligns perfectly with her professional ethos of making a meaningful impact. She takes pride in developing engaging programs that enhance the overall well-being and enjoyment of the seniors under her care.
Furthermore, Alice's genuine joy in fostering relationships and providing support to the seniors reflects her deep-seated commitment to their happiness and welfare. Her genuine interest in creating a positive and nurturing environment at JHC underscores her dedication to ensuring that every senior feels valued, respected, and cared for. Event Coordinator and Driver
Purna Gurung is a diligent professional with a certificate from the College of Higher Education in Birtamode, where he specialized in Marketing and Economy, as well as English and Nepali languages. With a background in Commerce, Business, and Management, he brings a blend of skills and knowledge to his work experiences.
From May 2017 to May 2020, Purna worked as a Personal Assistant at Gojo Company, where he was involved in supporting packaging tasks and serving as an interpreter for Nepali-speaking individuals. His responsibilities included training new staff on equipment operations and inventory management, setting up job lines, as well as assisting in printing labels to support operational processes effectively.
Purna enjoys working at the Jin Huo Community Adult Daycare Center because he has a deep passion for helping and caring for others. The interactions he has with the clients at the center bring a sense of fulfillment and purpose. Purna finds joy in creating a positive and engaging environment for the adults in his care, knowing that he is making a difference in their lives. Additionally, the supportive and collaborative work culture at the center, along with the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with both clients and colleagues, further enhance Purna's job satisfaction. Overall, the opportunity to provide companionship, assistance, and support to individuals in need resonates with Purna's values and brings his profound sense of happiness and fulfillment in her work.
Dietary Aide
Aita Rai is a compassionate and dedicated Dietary Aide with a profound commitment to serving the senior immigrant community. With a rich background as a refugee, Aita draws upon her personal experiences to forge meaningful connections with seniors at Jin Huo Community Adult Daycare Center, where she has diligently served for 4 years. A natural communicator and caregiver, Aita excels in addressing the unique needs of seniors, leveraging her innate ability to engage in heartfelt conversations and provide essential support.
Having also worked as a Community Caregiver, Aita possesses a deep understanding of senior care, acquired through hands-on experience and training in mental health and senior-specific care techniques. Aita's educational journey began in Nepal, culminating in the completion of her high school degree. This educational foundation, combined with her practical experience and ongoing commitment to professional development, equips Aita with the skills and knowledge necessary to make a meaningful impact within the senior community.
Looking ahead, Aita Rai remains steadfast in her mission to serve and support seniors at Jin Huo Daycare Center, embodying empathy, respect, and a genuine desire to enhance the lives of those she interacts with.
Program Assistant
Ama is a dedicated professional with a strong educational foundation, having attended Global Educational Academy Secondary School, where she specialized in Economy and Marketing. Fluent in English, Nepali, Hindi, Bengali, and Assamese, she possesses a rich understanding of commerce, business, and management.
From 2012 to October 2016, Ama selflessly contributed her services in a Bhutanese community refugee camp in Nepal, where she provided support and assistance to those in need. This experience significantly shaped her commitment to community service and her desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
After resettling in the USA, Ama joined ASIA (Asia Service in Action) in April 2017. She found her niche working with seniors, a role that inspires her to embrace compassion, improve efficiency, and cultivate greater patience. Ama believes that her work with the elderly not only enhances their lives but also contributes to her personal growth, as it fosters both physical and mental well-being for all involved.
In her spare time, Ama enjoys caring for elderly individuals, ensuring they lead healthier and happier lives. Her unwavering dedication to the senior community reflects her profound belief in the power of empathy and connection.
Program Aide
Liling has been a dedicated advocate for the Asian community in Northeast Ohio for many years, particularly through her involvement with ASIA (Asia Service in Action), a well-renowned organization that offers vital services to Asians in need. Her connection to ASIA began decades ago, when she first learned about their impactful initiatives.
One of Liling’s most cherished memories is tied to the "Lucky Senior" program, which she frequently attended with her mother during her visit from overseas about 20 years ago. This program not only provided support and companionship but also fostered lasting memories for both Liling and her mother, highlighting the importance of community and connection.
Recently, Liling learned that the "Lucky Senior" program has evolved into a full-service adult daycare center. This development thrilled her immensely, as it represents an expansion of the support and resources available to seniors in the community.
With a deep-rooted passion for helping others, Liling has actively volunteered at her church for many years, showcasing her commitment to service. She is excited to join the Jin Huo team at the new adult daycare center, where she looks forward to enriching the lives of seniors who visit each week. Liling’s enthusiastic spirit and compassionate heart make her an invaluable asset to the community she loves.
Registered Nurse
Holly Lee is a dedicated professional with a deeply rooted commitment to her community. After immigrating to the United States with her family as refugees in 1975, Holly and her parents, along with her three brothers and sister, established their home in Ohio, where they nurtured their family values and resilience.
Holly holds both a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Akron. With extensive experience in both acute and community healthcare settings, she brings a wealth of knowledge and compassion to her role. Currently, she is a proud member of the Care Team at the Jin Huo Adult Day Center, where she serves older adults from Asia and Southeast Asia. Holly finds immense fulfillment in this position, as it allows her to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds, honoring their unique cultural narratives while promoting their well-being.
In addition to her professional endeavors, Holly is actively engaged in her passions. She enjoys attending theater performances, crocheting with her Craft Group, and volunteering at the Community Meal Program at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Holly cherishes gatherings with family and friends and loves traveling to appreciate the beauty of God's creations.
Working at the Jin Huo Adult Day Center resonates deeply with Holly as it not only aligns with her nursing and psychological expertise but also fulfills her desire to give back to the community that has supported her family. She believes in the importance of providing compassionate care to older adults, fostering an environment where they feel valued and connected. Holly's work is a beautiful blend of her personal history and professional aspirations, making a meaningful impact on the lives of those she serves.

Program Director
Susan Wong is a seasoned professional with over two decades of experience in Northeast Ohio, dedicated to addressing health disparities, social justice, and providing services for immigrants and refugees. Currently, Susan holds multiple pivotal roles in the community.
As the Chief Program Officer for Asian Services in Action (ASIA), Susan spearheads various initiatives aimed at enhancing the well-being of individuals in the community. Her commitment to service extends further as she took on additional responsibilities in 2021. Susan extended her impact to the Jin Huo Community (JHC) Adult Daycare Center, focusing on providing essential services for the aging population. Furthermore, she contributes her expertise to the Apex Fund for Economic Opportunities, a CDFI-certified organization dedicated to community development.
In her leadership roles, Susan oversees a range of social service programs vital to community welfare. These programs include Workforce Development, Financial Capability, Services for Children, Youth, and Families, Aging and Adult Services, Microlending Programs supporting small businesses, as well as Interpreting and Translation Services. Susan's major emphasis lies in benefiting the AAPI community, along with other marginalized groups like immigrants and refugees, ensuring they receive the support and resources necessary for their well-being and success.
Susan Wong's multifaceted roles and unwavering dedication exemplify her profound commitment to fostering social change, promoting inclusive practices, and creating opportunities for underserved populations in Northeast Ohio.
Event Coordinator
Sandy Lin is a dedicated Program Coordinator specializing in serving Chinese seniors with a wealth of experience in community care. With a robust background in the field, Sandy has previously spent a decade at ASIA's Interpretation Department before transitioning to the Chinese Lucky Seniors program until the inception of Jin Huo Community (JHC).
Recognizing the importance of expertise and training in senior care, Sandy has diligently pursued certifications such as National Certification Council for Activities Professionals (NCCAP), Red Cross CPR and first aid, and Food Safety, among others. These qualifications, coupled with years of practical experience, underscore Sandy's commitment to providing top-notch care tailored to the unique needs of senior community members.
In her role, Sandy places a strong emphasis on ensuring seniors' well-being and enjoyment at the Jin Huo Adult Daycare Center. From organizing engaging activities to promoting physical and mental well-being through exercises, massage chairs, creative projects, and more, Sandy prioritizes creating a nurturing and secure environment where seniors can thrive and feel valued.
Above all, Sandy emphasizes seniors' safety as paramount. With a vigilant staff dedicated to monitoring and implementing safety protocols, the focus remains on fostering a positive and enriching experience for every senior at Jin Huo, epitomizing the essence of a truly exceptional Daycare facility where seniors can find joy, comfort, and fulfillment.
Event Assistant
Cher Paw, a diligent and seasoned professional, possesses a strong foundation in community development and project management, coupled with extensive hands-on experience in various roles.
Having successfully graduated from High School, Cher continued to expand her knowledge and expertise by completing rigorous Community Organization Training and Project Management Training provided by esteemed institutions such as Burma Issues/Peace Way Foundation and Diakonia organization in Thailand. These training programs equipped Cher with essential skills and insights that have guided her career path.
With an impressive tenure at the Burma Issues/Peace Way Foundation organization in Thailand spanning a decade from 2005 to 2015, Cher has held pivotal roles that underscore her commitment and proficiency. Beginning as a one-year intern, Cher gained invaluable experience and insight into the organization's operations, setting a strong foundation for their future endeavors.
Cher likes working at Jin Huo Community Adult Daycare Center, she finds fulfillment in creating a warm and nurturing environment at the center, where each individual is valued and respected. Cher’s compassionate nature and dedication to service make her an invaluable asset to the meaningful work carried out at JHC adult daycare center.

With a tenure exceeding one year at the center, Aung thrives on creating engaging and enjoyable experiences for the senior community he serves. His dedication to organizing a diverse array of activities reflects his commitment to ensuring that each day is filled with camaraderie, joy, and opportunities for social interaction.
Furthermore, Aung goes above and beyond by offering transportation services, guaranteeing the seniors' safe transportation to and from the center, thus providing peace of mind for both the individuals and their families. JHC believes leadership should reflect the community it serves. By sharing the stories of our immigrant board members, JHC is attempting to honor heritage, build credibility, and create deeper connections across cultures and generations.
Board President
May J. Chen, is co-founder and executive director emeritus of Asian Services in Action, Inc., whose mission is to empower and advocate for Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders(AAPIs); and to provide AAPIs access to quality, culturally, and linguistically appropriate information and services, has changed the lives of thousands in the Asian American Pacific Islander community, and others, through her advocacy for parity in social, health, and educational services as well as community advancement; and
Mrs. Chen, a native of Hong Kong, China, has spent her professional life creating opportunities out of obstacles, educating mainstream providers and funders and mobilizing Asian Pacific Islander communities building their capacity in Akron and the Greater Cleveland area, developing and implementing projects for Asian American Pacific Islander communities to improve quality of life; she launched Asian Services In Action’s best practice award Asian American Youth Against Tobacco Training Manual to Shanghai, China and she has served as a volunteer on 25 advisory committees, Boards of Trustees and Panel members and has developed and implemented 23 community based programs . Her most recent project is Jin Huo Community Senior Center for Asian immigrant and other limited English speaking elders in Summit County in partnership with Asian Services In Action, Inc..
A licensed professional clinical counselor and licensed independent marriage and family therapist, Mrs. Chen, who received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Vanderbilt University and her Master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from The University of Akron in 1988, has been recognized for her outstanding service with numerous honors, including the 2000 Woman of the Year Award from the Cleveland Chinese Woman’s Association, the 2001 Summit County YWCA 100 Women for Community Contribution Award, named as one of five Women of the Year in 2002 by the Summit County YWCA, 2003 Ohio Commission on Minority Health Chairman Award; 2004 Asian Pacific Partnership Empowerment and Leadership Summit Organizational Leadership Award; 2008 Civic Ventures Encore Purpose Prize Fellow; 2013 Alumni Honor Award and 2020 Elizabeth Buchtel Award from University of Akron, City of Akron Resolution 267 honoring May J. Chen community service to Akron, Ohio and 2020 Daughter of American Revolution for Americanism Medal given to naturalized citizen demonstrating outstanding characteristics of integrity, trustworthiness and patriotism and Cleveland International Hall of Fame, 2022, Global Ties Golden Bridges Award, 2023.
Board Vice President & Treasurer
Elizabeth Chung is a native of Hong Kong, China, and immigrated to the United States in 1970. For 45 years, she has been an advocate for minority health. She is the founder and Executive Director of the Asian American Center of Frederick (AACF), an organization dedicated to supporting immigrants with essential skills to be independent and successful contributors to the community. Under her leadership, AACF is a leading entity in addressing health disparities through partnership with collective impact. Elizabeth serves and has served on various advisory committees, boards, and commissions in various capacities, including the Asian Pacific American Commission of the Governor’s Office of Community Initiative. She has received many awards and accolades throughout her career, including becoming the national recipient of the New York Life Foundation – Love Takes Action Award.
A proven leader in promoting health equity, Ms. Chung has pioneered the implementation of community health workers in Maryland. In addition to serving on the CHRC, Chung is CEO of the Asian American Center of Frederick, which provides all immigrants with essential skills to be independent and successful contributors to communities and society. Commissioner Chung has served on a variety of advisory committees, boards, and commissions including the Health Services Cost Review Commission, Maryland Health Benefit Exchange, Frederick Human Relations Commission, Interfaith Housing Alliance, National Cancer Institute and the Regional Community Network. Chung is currently active on the Asian Pacific American Commission of the Governor's Office of Community Initiative and the Frederick County Commission on Aging.

Elizabeth is a dedicated Project Specialist known for her organized and results-driven approach to managing complex tasks. With a solid background in organizational policies and procedures spanning administrative, human resources, and program management, she excels in overseeing compliance measures, training initiatives, application processes, and renewals. Elizabeth is also well-versed in supporting grant application processes, enhancing the overall efficiency of operations.
In addition to her project management expertise, she brings a wealth of experience as an ESL instructor, where she has developed a passion for empowering individuals through education and support. Elizabeth takes pride in her ability to proactively turn challenges into opportunities, using obstacles as catalysts for continuous process improvement.
At JHC Adult Daycare Center, Elizabeth finds fulfillment in contributing to a mission that positively impacts the lives of adults in the community. She enjoys the collaborative environment and values the chance to implement innovative solutions that enhance the quality of care and support for participants.
